We are available to provide mental health therapy in-person (in Lansing, MI) or virtually. In-person sessions are preferred for children and tween-age clients, while teenage and adult clients can select in-person or virtual based on scheduling and individual preference. Virtual sessions are conducted using a secure platform.

Amy Kapp is especially passionate about working with caregivers of children, especially those with big, baffling behaviors such as children with attachment trauma and/or neurodiversity. As a single woman with experience parenting foster and adopted children, Amy knows what it's like to feel like no one understands your particular parenting struggles and she is here to support you.

The therapist allows the child choices about how they participate in the therapeutic process, including how much they talk versus play, what they play, and how much time their parent(s) spend in the room with them. The therapist provides cues of safety to the child and works through the therapeutic relationship to help the child believe in their own worth.

It is important for parents to be involved in the therapy process along with their children. This will include some times when the parent(s) will meet with the therapist along with their child as well as times when the parent will meet with the therapist alone. Parent involvement helps the child and parent see progress more quickly in the home.
